Start a Focus Session from Your Home Screen
The hardest Pomodoro is the first one of the day — and every tap between you and “start” is a chance to wander. A widget collapses the distance: the timer is already on the home screen, one tap from running.
The five widgets
- Pomodoro Timer (small): the current session state and countdown with a Start/Stop button built in — the one-tap way into a session. The countdown ticks live, rendered by the system.
- Pomodoro Timer (medium): the same controls with more room — state, time and progress in a wider card.
- Weekly Activity: your seven-day stacked chart, category colors and all, living on the home screen. Watching the bars grow is quiet fuel — the same data as the Stats tab, zero taps away.
- Top Categories: your focus portfolio as a color bar — a glanceable answer to “what has this week actually been about?”
- Lock-screen widgets: a circular complication and an inline strip above the clock, so the timer is reachable before the phone is even unlocked — the natural partner to the Live Activity that appears once a session runs.
Setting them up
- Home screen: long-press any empty space, tap +, search Mira, and pick the timer, chart or categories widget in your preferred size.
- Lock screen: long-press the lock screen → Customize, tap the widget area, and add Mira's circular or inline widget.
- Place the timer widget where your thumb lands first — the point is for “start a session” to be easier than “open a feed.”
A layout that works
Front page: the small timer widget next to your most-used apps — start and pause without leaving home. Second page or a widget stack: Weekly Activity and Top Categories, where a swipe answers “how's the week going?” Lock screen: the inline widget, so even checking the time reminds you a session could be running. The theme is consistent: make focus the path of least resistance.
The pairing: widgets start the session; the Live Activity carries it on the lock screen and Dynamic Island; the stat widgets show the accumulating result. At no point in that loop does the phone need to be unlocked into its distractions.
